Learning Objectives(本课学习目标):
After the class, students can
1.Find out why Shennongjia has been chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage;
2.Work out the structure of a lecture and make a lecture, applying some data, examples and comparisons to serve the lecture, talk about the differences and similarities of Macquarie island and Shengnongjia.
3.Learn the usage of some key words and phrases.
4.Exchange positive assignment of " three good things "in positive psychology in protecting environment of Dalian.
Let’s review what we have learned in the understanding ideas. Fill in the chart and complete the action plots and feeling plots according to the passag.

Check Ss’ previewing of the developing ideas. Ss’ act out the lecture and try to feel the genre, theme and structure of the passage.
Step2: What do you know about Shennongjia? Read the passage and answer the questions.

Step4: Compare and Discuss Group Work.
Q1:Give a talk comparing Macquarie Island and Shennongjia. Think about the similarities and differences between the two places.
Q2:Decide what conclusions you can draw from comparing the two places and what you would like to include in your talk. Then give a talk.

Paraphrase:In winter, scientists go out in heavy snow and very cold temperatures to supply food to the Golden Snub-nosed Monkey.
brave 在这里用作动词,意为“勇于置身(恶劣或危险境地)”
Translate:成百上千的志愿者不顾恶劣天气保护濒危动物。
Hundreds of vounteers braved the elements to protect the endangered animals.
2. Although endangered elsewhere in China due to the invasion of foreign species, the bees of Shennongjia have coexisted with the local people for centuries. (P76)
Paraphrase:Although they are endangered in other places of China due to the invasion of foreign species, the bees of Shennongjia have lived in harmony with the local people for hundreds of years.
coexist v co (共同) + exist (v 存在) coexist with 共存,共生
Translate:The question is no longer how to remove wolves but how to coexist with them.
现在的问题不再是如何除掉狼,而是如何与狼共存。
3. WHY SHENGNONGJIA ? (P75)
Why sb / sth? 通常用于询问为什么某人或某事被选中。
即: Why a particular person or thing has been chosen for / to do sth?
Why me? Why can’t someone else drive you home?
4. As we know, in 2016, Shennongjia made it onto the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Paraphrase:We know in 2016 Shennongjia was accepted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List.
make it 获得成功或达到
Translate:在冬季,科学家们不畏暴雪和严寒最终成功地为川金丝猴提供了食物。
In winter, scientists brave the elements to supply food to the Golden Snub-nosed Monkey and make it.
5. By providing the bees with a secure home, the villagers collect their honey in return.
Paraphrase:The villagers provide the bees with a secure home, and in return, collect their honey.
in return 作为报答
我们保护自然。反过来,自然也为我们提供食物生存家园。
we protect nature and nature supply food and home to us in return.

1.Write a lecture about how to protect the environment in Dalian,especially the places where you are living.
